Chair recruitment
Dear Candidate,
Thank you for your interest in joining Golding Homes as Chair of our Board.
This is an exciting moment to join Golding, as we look ahead with confidence and ambition. Our new Corporate Plan 2026–2030 has been shaped by our customers, colleagues and partners. We’re building on strong foundations with a clear vision: to be local and listening, visible and trusted, efficient in everything we do.
Golding is a community‑based housing association, centred around Maidstone, with a proud history of providing more than 8,500 homes and serving around 20,000 customers. In recent years, we’ve invested significantly in improving both our services and our homes, addressing historic under‑investment while taking a thoughtful and balanced approach to development.
We’ve recently completed our regulatory inspection, and are proud to have achieved a C1, G1, V2 grading. This reflects Golding as a strong, well‑governed and financially sound organisation.
Our Board and Executive Team work in genuine partnership, supported by strong governance and a shared commitment to continuous improvement. Our outgoing Chair, Chris, has played a pivotal role in guiding the organisation through change, and we are grateful for this legacy of stability and collaboration that provides a strong platform for the future.
Our Direction
Our strategy is deliberately clear and focused. We’re concentrating our efforts on three corporate plan priorities:
- Putting customers at the heart of every decision we make
- Delivering safe, high-quality homes
- Ensuring Golding is smart, efficient and future-ready
Alongside this, we’re strengthening how we operate, as well as increasing our financial resilience and focus on value for money. We’re using data and insight to move from reactive to proactive services, investing where it makes the greatest difference, and building strong partnerships to achieve better outcomes for the people we serve.
Our Values in Action
Golding is a place where people feel connected and valued. Our colleagues care deeply about their work, our customers are central to every decision we make, and our community links are a real source of pride. Our values are not statements on a page – they’re how we lead, how we make decisions and how we work together every day.
- We Care – We listen, we show respect, and we put people first.
- We Welcome New Ideas – We’re open, curious and willing to challenge ourselves to improve.
- We Take Pride – We focus on quality and take responsibility for the outcomes we deliver.
- We Own It – We act with integrity, follow through on our commitments, and support each other to make a difference.
For us, leadership – both executive and non-executive – is grounded in these values.
The Opportunity
As the incoming Chair you’ll play a pivotal role in leading the evolution of our organisation, building on strong foundations while helping to shape Golding’s future direction.
We’re looking for someone who can bring the energy, integrity and commitment to help us deliver our ambitions. Someone who can balance strategic oversight with genuine curiosity, and who brings both rigour and empathy to governance. For the right person, this role offers the opportunity to contribute to something meaningful – helping shape homes, services and communities for the long term.
You will lead a committed Board, working closely with the Chief Executive and Executive Team, to ensure we remain focused on our strategic priorities while delivering strong governance, effective challenge and clear accountability. Joining us as Chair means delivering our agreed plans and helping shape the long-term future of an organisation that’s ambitious, grounded and committed to making a positive difference.
Equally important is the role you’ll play in setting the tone – creating an environment where people feel able to contribute, where different perspectives are valued, and where we collectively hold ourselves to high standards. You’ll share our absolute commitment to ensuring we listen to and act on what our customers tell us.
If this sounds like the kind of organisation and role that inspires you, we’d be delighted to welcome you to explore this opportunity with us.
Yours sincerely,
Charlotte Bidgood
